The duties and responsibilities of the Red Hill Water Authority are as follows:
- Provide and maintain the water collection and storage system, the transmission and distribution mains, and the services to the curb stop. While the Authority supplies the water meter for the property, it is NOT responsible for any piping, plumbing or appurtenances past the curb stop.
- Repair and/or replace faulty meters. The property owner is always required to provide access to the meter.
The property owner’s responsibilities include the following:
- Maintain the plumbing system of the property. If the property owner has any problems with the system on the property owner’s side of the curb stop, it is their responsibility, NOT THE RED HILL WATER AUTHORITY, to make repairs and correct the problem. However, if curbside shutoff becomes necessary, the Authority MUST be contacted to schedule shutoff of water service because plumbers DO NOT have the authority to do so. Please Note: Curbside shutoff is subject to a $25.00 MINIMUM FEE .
- Repair any leaks in the service lines from the curb stop to the structure as well as inside the home or building.
- Monitor the condition of the water meter and notify the Authority of any problems involving the meter. For customers with modular homes where meters are located under the house, the METERS and HEAT TAPES should be checked periodically, especially during the winter months.
